SCOTTISH WINDSURFING SERIES

SWS EVENT 1
VENUE: Lochwinnoch.

Clyde windsurfing Club hosted the first SWS event on the calendar. Held on there home turf at Lochwinnoch they had a strong turnout, Not to be outdone there where participants from across Scotland reaching as far a field as Aviemore which was great to see. In all there where 28 eager entries covering four fleets. The racing started with a simple triangular course which with the fluctuating wind conditions proved fairly testing to many of the competitors.

The short sprint format suited the evening racing with many enjoying the frequent short circuits. Many a brave performance was put in at the start line as old hands such as Andy Kerr, Alan (all action) Jackson, Anna Bird and John Meek all contesting with the junior and novices for the best position.

It was safe to say that it was carnage on many of the starts. With four short races under there belts and some interesting use of alternate power by all action Jackson as he struggled against the race board crew as the wind dropped. Some great performances were on show throughout the evening. Including Jonny freshwater dominating the master fleet on his new board. John Meek showed sheer class in the veteran fleet with a comprehensive whitewash of all his competitors. And the young Chris Dowson impressed again with his skills in the T15 Fleet. With the light fading fast as was the wind a halt was called to the nights racing. And the results formulated for the prize giving.

It was great to see so many smiling faces at the end at it was a great start to the Scottish Windsurfing Series. Everybody seems to be looking forward to Event Two at East Kilbride on the 18 th of June.
