RYA Scotland Class Academies

The RYA Scotland Class Academies are unique to Scotland. This new initiative started in 2012-13 and are your source of accessible high level coaching.

Please Note: Only sailors with a primary place of residence in Scotland will be automatically accepted. All sailors resident outside Scotland must request a place on academy training through the Performance Committee and costs of training will differ for non-scottish residents. These requests should be directed through the Performance Manager: tim.ellis@ryascotland.org.uk

All sailors are welcome to attend these Academies, however non members are now required to pay a £5 supplement as RYA Scotland is a members' organisation subsidising activities for its members.

The academies will be running in all RYA Scotland Pathway classes including the Optimist, Topper, Windsurfer, Laser 4.7, Radial, Feva, 420 and 29er.

The Academy has been designed to be your one stop shop for improving your skills from first getting into the class to being selected for GBR Squads.

The academies will be run by the Scottish National Coach within each class and offers not only the chance to learn from coaches, but also sailors further up the Pathway who will train alongside those new into the boat.

The Academies are also open to all sailors in the specified classes regardless of age. Sailors must have their own boat.  RYA Scotland does have a small fleet of toppers that are available for RYAS training.   Please contact Matt Toynbee, matt.toynbee@ryascotland.org.uk,  in advance to arrange.
