Volunteer Development
Volunteers are the backbone of our sport, it simply would not be possible for our sport to run without them. This section is intended to provide access to resources and information to help individuals and organisations.
Without volunteers sport would collapse. To put it into perspective there are over 900,000 volunteers in Scotland and sport benefits from many of these. We are extremely keen to support our own volunteers (and we have over 60 of them on our committees and council) and to extend our support to clubs and other organisations. This includes recognising the efforts of exceptional volunteers at our annual awards.
We work closely with numerous organisations including Volunteer Development Scotland (VDS) and the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) to gather best practice and to identify changes to legislation or practice that may impact on our volunteers. Of particular note are the changes to Child Protection policies and the new Safeguarding and Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
