Two Parliamentary Motions Passed!
RYA Scotland would like to acknowledge the passing of two parliamentary motions this week that recognise the achievements of two of RYA 2011 award winners, Jim Hartshorne and Jamie Calder; as well as the organisation itself.
These motions were passed by the Scottish Parliament on the 14th and 15th of December, highlighting the achievements of these extraordinary individuals.
Parliament congratulated Jim Hartshorne, member of The Loch Tummel Sailing Club, on receiving The Community Lifetime Commitment Award, at the 2011 RYA Scotland Awards. The motion paid recognition to RYA Scotland for the great work we do in promoting sport in Scotland. This motion was supported by an impressive 23 MSPs, which included; Kenneth Gibson, Stuart McMillian, and Margaret Burgess.
Parliament also
congratulated Jamie Calder, also a member of the Loch Tummel Sailing Club, for receiving The Regional Young Sailor of the Year award at the 2011 RYA Awards this past February. This motion also paid recognition to RYA Scotland for their work in promoting sport in Scotland, and with an enourmous support from 22 MSPs, including Gordon MacDonald and Jamie Hepburn.
