David McColgan Appointed as Honorary Secretary

RYA Scotland would like to introduce the newly appointed Honorary Secretary, David McColgan.

Originally from Dunfermline, David undertook his studies at The University of Stirling, a degree in international politics. He then went on to complete a Masters degree at The University of Glasgow, in international relations.

David is currently working as a policy officer at the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations, previous to this he worked with the Scottish Sports Association, as a policy and communications officer.  He was also involved in  representing the SSA on BBC Radio Scotland on the Good Morning Extra show, where he answered calls from members of the public on issues related to sport and the ‘Scotland’s Sporting Chance’ manifesto, which David was responsible for designing and writing.

In his spare time David is an avid golfer, scuba-diver and hill walker. When asked how he feels about his newly appointed position at RYA Scotland, David responded, "I am delighted to join the team & management committee at RYA Scotland and look forward to what is sure to be an exciting period for the organisation. Although a non-sailor I bring with me a wealth of experience in Governing Bodies in Scotland and the wider sporting context in Scotland."

Welcome David to RYA Scotland!
