What we do

RYA Scotland has a diverse portfolio of work. We run numerous programmes of activity to develop our sports and to nurture racing talent. These activities are supported our Participation Development Group and the Racing and High Performance Committees.  This includes working with RYA Sailability and RYA Sailability Scotland to improve access to sailing for disability groups. We also work hard to protect your rights and promote your interests.  The engine room behind this work is the Cruising and General Purpose Committee. Much of this work would not be possible without the generous support of sportscotland, the national agency for sport and our other partners.

In conjunction with the RYA we also seek to provide advice and guidance on all sorts of issues affecting our members. Scotland has numerous different laws and regulations and RYA Scotland has spent a great deal of time and effort to stay on top of these for you. The most notable of these being the differences between legislation for Child Protection and Safeguarding/Protection of Vulnerable Groups.

We are also interested in the environment and work with the British Marine Federation to champion best practice and environmental awareness through The Green Blue Programme. This programme has saved thousands of pounds for clubs and centres around Scotland and has also sourced new grants and investment.
